Soul Sparks Press Redefines the Path to Publishing: A New Era for Manuscripts Without Metrics

With the expansion of its direct submissions program, Soul Sparks Press opens its doors to authors seeking more than algorithms, bypassing outdated industry conventions in favor of literary impact.

For decades, the traditional publishing world has operated behind a velvet rope. At its most charitable, it offers a structured, highly selective, path to literary legitimacy. At its most cynical, it feels like a fortress of gatekeepers, its doors swinging open only for authors with elite connections, viral followings, or pre-existing celebrity.

But as the industry continues to evolve, a new model is emerging, one that honors craft over clout, and message over metrics. Leading this quiet revolution is Soul Sparks Press, the boutique publishing house known for its bespoke, author-centric approach, and now, with the expansion of its direct submissions pathway, it’s inviting a new class of writers to join its literary ranks.

What distinguishes Soul Sparks Press in a sea of hybrid publishers is not merely its high-touch services or design excellence, but its founding philosophy: that a story worth telling should not require a platform to be published. “Sometimes the book is the platform and the publisher is the platform,” shares Deepika. If you are rejected by publishers because you don’t have the end, should that really be the end of your literary dreams? I don’t think so You can just start. I started and launched Hello Universe It’s Me. Everything else evolved from there. I didn’t have the book audience. I curated it.” Hello Universe It’s Me is Deepika Sandhu’s debut, award winning, critically acclaimed best-selling book.

Deepika believes that you shouldn’t need to know all the mechanisms of how to market your book. You don’t have to worry about whether you will make the publisher money. You don’t have to worry about a large social media following. That’s where Soul SparksPress  comes in. “I do not believe that authors need to have a giant social media presence to put amazing books out there.” It’s about the impact.

From Manuscript Mentorship to Manuscript Acquisition

When Soul Sparks Press first entered the publishing landscape, its mission was clear: to help first-time writers bring the stories in their hearts onto the page. The company carved out a niche in book coaching, working with aspiring authors from the very first idea through to final publication.

“Most of our early authors came to us with nothing more than a concept,” says the founder. “They didn’t have a manuscript; they had a message. Our role was to draw it out, shape it, and help them articulate it in a way that would resonate.”

As word spread about the caliber of books Soul Sparks was producing, emotionally resonant narratives, sophisticated in design and thoughtful in execution, an unexpected question began to surface: Would the press consider accepting fully written manuscripts?

At first, the answer was no. Soul Sparks had no intention of becoming a traditional publishing house. But over time, the inquiries became too compelling to ignore.

“I was being approached by writers with extraordinary manuscripts, works that were complete, but overlooked,” the founder explains. “They’d exhausted the conventional channels. They didn’t want to self-publish, but they also didn’t want to surrender their vision to a system that valued social reach over substance. In the end, I just felt compelled. I had to bring these stories to life.”

That reconsideration has since evolved into an official new offering: Direct Submissions at Soul Sparks Press.

A Counterpoint to Conventional Publishing

To fully appreciate the significance of this shift, one must understand the prevailing norms of traditional publishing, norms that Soul Sparks now openly challenges.

The standard publishing route often begins with securing a literary agent, a process fraught with rejection and reliant on opaque criteria. For debut authors, especially those outside existing networks, the agent-querying experience is frequently demoralizing and rarely fruitful. Even once representation is secured, authors must still prove their marketability, often through platform size, digital presence, or a perceived “sales hook.”

This prioritization of follower counts and pre-existing brand equity has become a litmus test for modern publishing, a test many deserving authors fail, not for lack of literary merit, but for lack of online visibility.

“I released my debut book, Hello Universe, It’s Me, with only a few hundred followers on Instagram,” says Deepika. “Yet it led to international speaking invitations, a television show in Australia, corporate engagements, and ultimately, the launch of a publishing company. The idea that a book’s value is determined by one’s social metrics is, quite frankly, absurd.”

At Soul Sparks Press, that logic has been wholly rejected.

How Direct Submissions Work

The new direct submission model is as elegant as it is accessible.

Authors with completed manuscripts are invited to submit their for assessment by the Soul Sparks Press editorial team, :

  1. Complete the direct submission form, providing essential information about their project, particularly the soul sparking moment that brought their project to life and what their hopes and dreams are for the project.
  2. Submit the first three chapters of their manuscript for editorial review, no query letters just the work you have poured yourself into so we can see and experience your writing first hand.

Submit a $222 assessment fee, which supports the time and expertise required for assessing the manuscript.

Each submission is reviewed by Soul Sparks’ internal editorial team, who assess the manuscript’s narrative strength, stylistic execution, and alignment with the publisher’s values. Authors receive a professional editorial report outlining both strengths and areas for potential development. Should the manuscript be considered a fit for the press, the author is offered a tailored publishing proposal within a month submission.

Unlike traditional houses, Soul Sparks does not claim royalties. Authors retain full ownership of their work and 100% of their earnings, a decision

For the Authors Who Don’t Fit the Mold

Sometimes authors have worked on a book idea, they may have worked through a few chapters and find themselves at a writer’s block not sure how or in what way to move forward. Soul Sparks Press works with authors that have a strong sense of their book concept but are looking for guidance and support along the way. The Soul Sparks Press team supports authors with what they would want their book to look like or be, and walks them through the process.

What they seek is a publishing experience that is intentional, intelligent, and intimate.

Soul Sparks Press offers just that: a place where a manuscript is not merely a product, but a vessel for impact. Where the editorial process is not about stripping the voice down for mass appeal, but refining it for maximum resonance.

A New Paradigm for Publishing

The opening of direct submissions is more than a logistical expansion, it is a philosophical stance.

In an industry that continues to consolidate, Soul Sparks is positioning itself as a deliberate outlier: exclusive but accessible, discerning but nurturing, strategic yet soulful. Its titles are appearing on bestseller lists, garnering awards, and most crucially reaching readers who need them.

“We’re not in this to flood the market with content,” the founder emphasizes. “We’re here to elevate stories that spark transformation whether personal, social, or cultural.”

The message to authors is clear: If your book holds that kind of power, Soul Sparks wants to hear from you.

Where to Begin

For writers with completed manuscripts and an unwavering sense that their work deserves to be read—not because it is viral, but because it is vital—Soul Sparks Press offers a publishing pathway grounded in integrity, excellence, and literary purpose.
