San Diego Weekly Standouts | March 2026 Honoree

As the founder of Young Divas With Purpose, Elegant Divas, and Harmony House, Kim Foster is transforming pain into purpose, creating spaces where young girls, women, and individuals rebuilding their lives are given the support, structure, and belief they need to rise.

San Diego, Calif.

A Life That Could Have Ended Differently

Some stories are easy to tell. Others require honesty, courage, and a willingness to face the past head-on.

For Kim Foster, the life she lives today is built from a reality that once looked very different.

The streets were alluring at first. They looked like freedom. Like opportunity. Like a path forward.

But that path eventually led her into environments that introduced her to things she never imagined for her life, including drugs and prison. What once felt like possibility became something else entirely, a space that forced her to confront where her life was heading.

And in that moment, something shifted. She realized she wanted something better.

Not just for herself.

But for the life she knew she was capable of living.

That decision became her turning point.

Instead of allowing her past to define her, Kim Foster made a choice that would shape everything that followed. She would turn her pain into purpose.

Building What She Once Needed

From that turning point came something far greater than a single program.

Kim Foster built an ecosystem.

One rooted in lived experience, compassion, structure, and faith.

She created three interconnected pathways of support:

Young Divas With Purpose
Elegant Divas
Harmony House

Each program serves a different stage of life, but all are connected by one mission:

To help people rebuild their lives with dignity, support, and belief.

Her goal has always remained simple and deeply personal.

Take what she went through, and use it to help someone else avoid the same road.

Young Divas With Purpose: Becoming the Mirror for the Next Generation

Young Divas With Purpose was created for girls ages 12 to 18 who are navigating some of the most critical years of their lives, often without consistent guidance, support, or positive role models.

Many of these young women come from disrupted homes or environments where strong female mentorship has been missing. They are searching for identity, direction, and encouragement, often without realizing the potential they already carry.

Young Divas exists to become that mirror.

Through mentorship, encouragement, and a supportive community, the program helps young girls:

Build confidence and self-worth
Strengthen character and identity
Develop positive decision-making skills
See possibilities for their future they may not yet recognize

At its core, the program is built on a simple but powerful belief:

Sometimes all a young woman needs is someone who believes in her before she believes in herself.

Elegant Divas: Where Healing Turns Into Leadership

Elegant Divas was created for women who have lived through real battles.

Women who have experienced domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, or mental health challenges.

Women whose stories are often marked by hardship, but also by resilience.

This program creates a safe and welcoming space where those women can begin again.

Not alone.

But together.

Elegant Divas provides wraparound support that addresses both emotional and practical needs, including:

Peer support and healing spaces
Encouragement, prayer, and community connection
Clothing assistance and basic needs support
Help with gas, small bills, and immediate challenges
Opportunities for community service and giving back

But what makes Elegant Divas especially powerful is what happens after healing begins.

Women step into leadership.

They mentor the younger girls.

They support each other.

They become the very example of transformation.

Because here, healing is not the end.

It is the beginning of something greater.

“When women heal, they gain the power to help others heal.”

Harmony House: A Real Chance to Start Over

For individuals facing housing instability and mental health challenges, Kim Foster created Harmony House, a transitional living environment designed to offer more than temporary shelter.

Harmony House is built on a different understanding.

People don’t just need a place to stay.

They need a place to rebuild.

Many residents have tried other programs or housing situations that did not fully meet their needs. What they are searching for is stability, structure, and consistent support.

Harmony House provides:

A safe and structured home environment
Daily guidance and life-skills development
A family-centered atmosphere
Stabilization and reintegration support
Encouragement to rebuild confidence and independence

It is a space where individuals can slow down, regain their footing, and begin to move forward with purpose.

Because Harmony House exists for people who have not given up on life—even when life has been difficult.

Serving Those Often Overlooked

Across all three programs, Kim Foster serves individuals who are often navigating some of life’s most difficult realities.

Young girls searching for identity.

Women rebuilding after trauma.

Individuals facing mental health challenges and housing instability.

What connects them is not just hardship.

It is potential.

Kim Foster sees people not for where they are, but for who they can become.

A Heart That Leads Everything

When Kim Foster speaks about her greatest strength, she doesn’t mention strategy.

She doesn’t mention programs.

She talks about her heart.

She describes herself as someone who genuinely cares about people. Someone who is patient, consistent, and unwilling to give up on others, even when they are struggling.

She believes you can be strong and still be loving.

Disciplined and compassionate.

That balance defines her approach.

She does not just offer support in moments.

She walks with people through the process.

Because she understands both pain and transformation, and that allows her to connect with people in a way that feels real.

“My superpower is my heart. I genuinely care about people.”

Faith as the Foundation

At the center of Kim Foster’s work is her faith. She believes in putting God first, and that belief shapes how she leads, serves, and shows up for others.

Her values are rooted in:

Compassion
Understanding
Fairness
Dignity for every individual

She believes that everyone has a story, and that many people are carrying burdens that others cannot see.

Because of that, she leads without judgment. And creates spaces where people can heal.

Showing Up for Families When It Matters Most

Kim Foster’s impact extends beyond structured programs into real moments of need within the community.

Through initiatives such as her annual Thanksgiving turkey drives and Adopt-A-Family Christmas program, she provides direct support to families who need it most.

Each year, her organization provides turkeys to 150 to 200 families, many of whom return not just for assistance, but for connection.

Over time, those families become part of a larger community.

In one powerful moment, her organization supported a family who had lost their father. Rather than focusing only on the children, Kim Foster made sure the entire household was supported.

Because in her words:

They do not just adopt the children. They adopt the mother too.

These actions reflect the heart of her mission. Not programs. People.

Recognition That Reflects Real Impact

While Kim Foster does not do this work for recognition, her impact has been acknowledged across multiple platforms.

She is a recipient of:

County of San Diego 2026 Social Entrepreneur Award
2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award
Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition
Numerous additional honors

These recognitions are not just about achievement.

They reflect lives changed.

Why Her Work Matters Now

In a world where many systems fall short of truly meeting people where they are, Kim Foster has created something different. She has built spaces where individuals are not only seen, but genuinely supported and given a real opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity.

Her work is not centered on quick fixes or temporary solutions; it is rooted in long-term transformation. She believes in people at their lowest and walks alongside them until they are able to recognize their own strength.

In doing so, her impact extends far beyond the individual, she is helping to strengthen families, uplift communities, and shape more hopeful futures.
